Life... and spinning

I've been a bit slack lately, although I've done quite a bit of spinning other things have got in the way. I still don't have a job and it looks like there's not a lot of luck in that field either. I've got my backup plan however, next week I am sending my application off to Tocal; an agricultural college about 4 hours drive south of here. If I get in I'll be doing 1, hopefully 2 years of Agricultural study after which I am pretty much assured a job, or if I do well with the Diploma (which I plan to do as well) I can get credit for half a Bachelor degree at some of the universities in the state.

I am also planning on taking Mavis down with me to help fill in the quiet times were I'm not studying or doing homework. Never know I might be able to get some of the cross bred sheep fleece and spin it up, then all I have to do is find crafty people to do something with said yarn. Oh and I'll probably be the oldest student there, most of them have either just finished Year 10 (so aged 16 or so) or Year 12 (aged 18). I'm already feeling old!

Anyhow the local spinning and weaving group seem to have turned on me and are quite narky and bitchy. I have 2 spindles on order for 2 of the ladies but after they're delivered and I return the hire wheel I'm not going to bother going back, I just don't feel welcome. I did however go to the Coffs Harbour group and felt very welcome, they didn't pick on my plying, how I spun or anything. Infact one of the ladies said she'd even teach me Navajo plying, however I taught myself it a few days ago and am currently spindle plying up some probably lace weight mid grey corridale that I did on the wheel. Looks good so far but I've got a lot more singles to spin before I can do much else.

I better get back to this lovely Copperpot "Darling Victoria" that I'm doing. I separated out the colours and am trying my best to spin them up separately and then I want to navajo ply it to keep the colours together. Hopefully get photos of that soon.
